Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Evolve who was shot by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino at B-club, Nairobi in January has opened up for the first time since he left hospital about his ordeal.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with NTV, DJ Evolve Struggling to speak due to the tube attached to his neck, explained how his life took a different turn after the January 17.
“I have needed medication to help me sleep, I have had flashbacks from that day and it is traumatizing,” he said.
The 25-year-old DJ says he has not been able to do anything for himself as the incident left him immobile.
DJ Evolve said he couldn’t sleep before and kept having flashbacks of the B-club tragedy, adding that the incident left him traumatized.
“I’m Okay generally; I’m doing better as opposed to when it first happened. I was really traumatized at the beginning, but I learnt to live with it.
The DJ is now on home care under the watchful eyes of his mum and nurses, who said that she has not spoken to or met the MP since his son was shot.
“I have never seen him, we have never talked. The pain I have, I cannot even talk, I only talk to my God,” she said.
DJ Evolve said that he is still unable to move his fingers although he managed to briefly lift his hands during the interview.
“I cannot be able to move my hands past unfolding my fingers, so when I do not have them, I cannot do much as they were my tools of trade, I cannot work,” he added.
Meanwhile, Orinda’s family says they are yet to hear from the Embakasi MP despite reports on local tabloids that the MP had reached out to the family for an-out-of-court settlement.
“I saw reports on the newspapers that I had talked to Babu, those are lies because I have not spoken to anyone, this incident left me devasted and I only speak to God,” Orinda’s mum said.
Embakasi MP whose real name is Paul Ongili is said to have drawn his gun and allegedly shot DJ Evolve, who was reportedly unarmed.
The incident is said to have occurred at the popular B Club in Kilimani estate, Nairobi.
Police say the lawmaker argued with the DJ, before he drew his gun and shot him on the neck.
Since the incident, Owino has maintained that the DJ is his personal friend and that is why he decided to settle the hospital bill out of his own volition and not from being coerced by the court or anybody else.
“I Babu Owino on humanitarian or moral grounds I decided to settle the bill, DJ Evolve is a personal friend so I settled the bills just as a friend,” he is on record saying.
After the shooting incident at B-Club, DJ Evolve spent six months in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Nairobi Hospital.
